Exchange Online

Every mailbox in your tenant is copied to an independent, encrypted backup — separate from Microsoft 365 itself.

What is protected

User mailboxes, shared mailboxes, calendars, contacts, tasks, folder structure and mailbox permissions. In-place archives are included, so older mail is covered too.

Why it matters

Email holds years of business communication: agreements, quotes, decisions. Microsoft's own retention window is limited, and an emptied mailbox, a compromised account or a mistaken retention policy can put that history out of reach.

How recovery works

Search the backup for a single message, restore a folder, or put a complete mailbox back to a chosen restore point — in place or into another mailbox, without overwriting what is still good.

Continuous security monitoring

Sign-ins, devices, cloud services and network activity are collected into one place and watched around the clock.

What is watched

Microsoft 365 sign-ins and admin actions, endpoint activity, firewall and network logs, and identity events — gathered into a SIEM (a central log platform) so events from different systems can be compared with each other.

Why it matters
